Our Beliefs & values
THE CHURCH REACHES OUT TO ALL PEOPLE
We take a special interest in all who are far from God. We are committed to removing the barriers that exist between people who are outside the church and those who are within. Rather than run from culture, we have chosen to harness it to connect with people and show them God's timeless truths. Without apology or restraint we will use the earmarks of today’s culture, like technology, video, music, decor, and even dress, to close the gap between those who know God and those who have yet to open themselves up to Him. Although our approach is anything but traditional, we believe in and maintain a conservative theological position.
THE BIBLE > GOD WROTE A BOOK
The Bible is God's Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because it was inspired by God, the Bible is truth without any mixture of error and is completely relevant to our daily lives.
GOD THE TRINITY > THREE IN ONE
God has existed in relationship with Himself for all eternity. He exists as one substance in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority.
THE FATHER > GOD IS GREAT, GOD IS GOOD
God is great: He is all powerful, all knowing, ever present, unchanging, completely worthy of our trust, and above all, holy. It is in Him that we live, move and exist. God is good: He is our Father. He is loving, compassionate, and faithful to His people and His promises.
THE SON > GOD BECAME MAN
Jesus Christ is completely human but, at the same time, completely God. He is the only plan for bringing people who are far from God back into a right relationship with God. He lived a perfect life, so that He could be a substitution by dying for all people on a cross to satisfy God's demands for perfection. He defeated death in His resurrection so that we could have life.
THE HOLY SPIRIT > GOD IS ALWAYS PRESENT
His presence assures us of our relationship with Christ. He guides believers into all truth and exalts Christ. He convicts people of their sin, God's righteousness, and the coming judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.
ETERNITY > SOMEWHERE FOREVER
Man was created to exist forever. He will exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven. Heaven and Hell are actual places of eternal existence.
MAN > GOD'S IMAGE BEARERS
Man is made in the image of God and is the supreme object of His creation. Man was created to have fellowship with God but became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man cannot attain a right relationship with God through his own effort. Every human personality is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and Christian love.
SALVATION > GOD'S ONLY WAY
The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a gift from God, and it cannot be earned through our own efforts. Once God’s gift is acknowledged and accepted, trust is rewarded with forgiveness that cannot, under any circumstances be reversed. Our salvation is because of Jesus’ work on the cross for us. We did nothing to deserve it and we can do nothing to undo it.
THE CHURCH > GOD'S DESIGN FOR COMMUNITY
The Church is a local community of baptized believers unified through faith in Christ. It is committed to the teachings of Christ and obeying all of His commands, and it seeks to bring the Gospel to the world. The Church works together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ.
MISSION > GOD'S PLAN TO REACH EVERYONE WITH HIS LOVE
The Church is on a mission to share the gospel message of Jesus by spreading the good news of God’s love and forgiveness throughout the world. This is evangelism. The Church is also responsible to nurture and equip Jesus’ followers to become competent with God’s Word and committed to living God’s ways that they will also share with and teach others who would believe. This is discipleship.
BAPTISM > OUR WAY OF SHOWING WHAT WE BELIEVE
Baptism by immersion (being entirely submerged under water) best symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and is your public declaration that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour. Baptism does not save you, but shows the world that you have already been saved. And while baptism is not required for salvation, it is a biblical command and demonstrates your love and obedience to Christ.
THE LORD'S SUPPER > OUR WAY OF REMEMBERING WHAT JESUS DID
The Lord’s Supper is an ordinance given to all believers by Jesus Christ to remember his sacrifice for us and to symbolize the new covenant built upon His love. The elements of bread and wine or juice are symbols of Christ’s broken body and shed blood. Participating in the Lord’s Supper, or, Communion, is not a means of salvation. Rather, it is a statement of a believer’s faith in the forgiving work of the cross.
Imagining Church Values
Our values reflect our deepest convictions and help us to realize our greatest intentions. They are the guardrails that keep us from being distracted by things that can cause us to go off the path that leads to God’s vision for us. Therefore, we firmly believe in protecting and actively following these five core values as crucial to what we are doing now to become who we want to be in the future.
